Without a doubt there will be changes in how companies do business with their investors. Currently 29 of the thirty Dow components in the Industrial index pay dividends. Even though Intel's payouts average 0.4%, it is still something. The big holdout is cash rich Microsoft. Should companies get the tax break, which is arguably not something that they would need to stimulate growth, this hoarding of cash by technology companies would slow. The good side of course is that there are lots of profits to share with investors from some of these big tech names. The down side is that those profits are used for continued growth and it would make it more difficult for companies to brave down times. [ Close Window ] |
